Back to our bumblefoot Vulture
This old girl has been through quite a journey with a very stubborn case of bumblefoot, most likely caused by a foreign object finding a way in where it shouldn't be. Test results showed that she was fighting three different strains of bacteria due to the injury.
Not to worry, Dr Margie Roach and her fabulous team at Umgeni Vet in Hilton came to the rescue once again! Dr Roach devised a three-pronged approach, which included a very intense double antibiotic scheme, followed by the implanting of antibiotic beads into the foot itself.
This distinguished old lady Cape Vulture came into care after eating something that did not agree with her.
Thankfully she recovered quickly from her bout of vomiting and diarrhea, but still needed to be treated for a very badly swollen and infected foot (referred to as bumblefoot or more accurately pododermatitis).
We are so thankful to VetScripts for supplying the antibiotic beads, free of charge and helping us give this distinguished old lady a second chance.
Stay tuned for progress updates!
We love what we do, and how we do it
