'The Howick High Community Club has built kennels to donate to Funda Nenja, the Mpophomeni-based non-profit organization that promotes animal welfare, for the second year running.
The club consists of boys and girls who have an interest in learning practical woodworking skills coupled with a passion for helping animals in need. These learners spent time every week developing their technical skills and connecting with like-minded people as they produced two large dog kennels. Not only do they donate their time but they often donate additional materials out of their own pockets to improve the quality and comfort of the kennels.
This project would not be possible without the generosity of local community members, namely Messrs Colin Hall and Stan Goodenough from the Rotary Club of Hilton and Howick. The Community Club received a donation of one fully built kennel and enough cut wood for the learners to build two additional kennels, meaning that it was possible to donate three kennels to Funda Nenja.
These kennels are then gifted to dog-owners in underprivileged areas. The highlight of this project is seeing the delight of the dog-owners (and their dogs!) when the kennels are handed over.
Age Quod Agis Community Club - thank you for fostering our school value of Charity.'appreciation from Howick High School.
