The club hosted serious games and light-hearted fun over the past week.
The Umgeni Waterfall 2 Bowl Trips Competition played on Friday, 29 November was sponsored by an individual who wishes to remain anonymous, plus Farm Gate Butchery who sponsored the Plate event.. The committee extends their gratitude to the sponsors.
There was some serious competition to be seen on the greens but the victors were Clark Logan, Heidi Snyman and Stephanie Crause of Howick Bowling Club. Runners up were Alan Willey, Sharon Willey and Phil Lang. Third prize went Margie Salter, Pippa Griffin and Daphne Henderson. The winners of the Plate Event were Team N (Colin Norris, Pat Norris and Lisa Nagel).
The fun event took on Saturday, 30 December. Members gathered together to play a short game of bowls before moving on to enjoy the company of other members while participating in a Christmas Quiz organised by Colin Hall. The day was a great success due to the fun and games and to the wonderful meal prepared by the ladies.
The fun, games and happy moments were touched by a poignant moment when we bid farewell , and not goodbye, to our Greenkeeper, Graham Sharp (Sharpie). Over the years, Graham, with the help of an assistant, kept our greens in good playing conditions. The UWBC Committee and Members thank him for the time he spent doing a sterling job.
During the festive season regular bowls will continue every Tuesday morning, Wednesday afternoon and Saturday afternoon.
All registered bowlers are welcome to join us on these days.
