As part of a recent educational trip to Gauteng, a group of Howick Prep pupils had the opportunity of visiting and going down a Gold mine shaft. They were also shown how Gold is mined, refined and smelted into Gold bars. While in Johannesberg, they also visited Maropeng - Cradle of Humankind, Sterkfontein Caves and were given a Behind the Scenes tour of the Johannesberg Zoo. The trip was a fantastic way of reinforcing what had been learnt back at School in the classroom.
