Mad dogs and, no! Not Englishmen, but bowlers..... go out in the rain and sun!
Spring Madness was celebrated on Tuesday, 06 September when an eclectic mix of bowlers took part in a fun morning of varied styles of bowling organised by John Withers. This was followed by a most enjoyable lunch at Ray’s Café.
On Saturday, 10 September the first round of the club’s drawn mixed trips competition was played in the mist and the rain. Now this could be termed following in the footsteps of the English who, due to the short outdoor bowling season, play in all kinds of weather if they do not wish to be scratched from the competitions. Well done to everyone who turned up to play on Saturday.
After bowls we bid farewell to Petra Stubbs who has been a member of Umgeni Waterfall Bowling Club since 1989. She leaves Howick to move closer to her family in the fair Cape. We wish Petra every happiness in her new home and many enjoyable hours watching whales and sea spray from the sea shore.
Forthcoming Events:
Wednesday, 14 September: Tabs In Competition sponsored by Halfway Toyota Howick.
Saturday, 17 September: Tabs In Competition sponsored by Giovision with additional prizes sponsored by Greendale Kwikspar.
