This year the annual Howick Covered donation to a Howick Cares project has been given to Sunfield Home, thank you to our advertisers for making this happen.
Shared here is the motivation which Sunfield Home presented for our voters comprising all Full Page advertisers;
The Sunfield Outreach Programme founded in 2005, has enriched the lives of the people of Howick and Mpopomeni communities by training close to 4000 caregivers in nursing skills so that they can care for sick and aged people. We have 15 trainees per month for 2 weeks with a final one week practical which is undertaken at Midlands Hospital or Sunfield Home.
This programme has created job opportunities for trained carers within Howick where we have many retirement villages. Our trainees have been employed privately and by the different old age facilities.
R10,000.00 will improve our training as we would purchase the type of equipment that our trainees need to be able to operate enabling them to give a better service to those who need our assistance, namely the sick, disabled and elderly frail people in our Howick community.
Things we need to give practical training on:
Baumanometer, Stethoscope, Nebulizer, Digital Thermometer, Wheel Chair, Walking Frame, Tripod, Trolley on wheels, Stocking Aid, Dressing Stick, Commode, Pull-up Device, Hair washing tray, Female Urinal, Mattress Protector, Lifting Sling, Lifting Strap, Flat Sheets for single bed, Text Books (8), Wall Clock (for checking vital signs) and a Dummy.
