The ‘Canopy Tours’ originated in the rain forests of Costa Rica. A study of biology quickly developed into an adrenaline pumping, breath taking, eco-tourism activity.
Karkloof Canopy Tours celebrated their 14th Birthday last week and I had the pleasure of spending a fun filled day, experiencing their zip- lines.
I was happy to know that safety is of paramount importance. Each zipline system has been designed and built by Canopy Tour civil Engineers.
Each tour group of 8 is escorted by very experienced guides. A lead guide and safety guide that monitor your progress at all times.
Each tour lasts between 2 and 4 hours and as your fears melt away and your confidence at being up in the tree tops grows and after 10 ziplines you leave feeling a sense of achievement.
Remember to wear closed shoes and comfortable clothes, and know that anything that isn’t attached to you will land in the forest never to be seen again. Take lots of photos with your own camera or buy a cd of your Canopy Tour group that the guides have taken. What an exhilarating day spent in nature!
