The Midlands is in for a treat this August with the Schlesinger Theatre, Michaelhouse proudly presenting the spectacular production, Oh! What a Lovely War, from 12 to 15 August 2018.
Directed by William le Cordeur and starring Michaelhouse and St Anne’s pupils, Joan Littlewood’s Oh! What a Lovely War will offer audiences musical entertainment based on the original World War 1 farce created in 1963. This musical comedy, which will make you laugh until you cry, is a fast-paced show presented by Pierrot clowns, set on an English seaside pier featuring wonderful songs from the Great War period, as well as the funniest history lesson you will ever sit through!
This musical comedy is a tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice; including the head of Michaelhouse at the time, Rector Brown, who resigned from his job to go to the front and was killed in battle. He, along with the many other Michaelhouse Old Boys will be honoured in this production.
Oh! What a Lovely War will be hosted by the Schlesinger Theatre, Michaelhouse, with performances on Sunday 12 August at 2pm, Monday 13 August at 7pm, Tuesday 14 August at 7pm and Wednesday 15 August at 7pm. Tickets are available at www.tickethut.co.za/michaelhouse for R80. Seats are limited so be sure to book your spot.
