The weather this past week held up very nicely and ensured that we had a full week of tabs in bowls.
On Friday 27th July we played our monthly Woodstone Craft Café Sponsored 2 Bowl Trips in early morning winter weather. Having surpassed our 6 month anniversary of this competition, the format was slightly altered to facilitate a new fresh interest. 16 Teams participated with the eventual winners being the visiting team from Hilton consisting of Dave Stephenson, Peter Bailie and John Fowler. Second prize went to fellow Hilton team John Patrick, Angus Snowden and Barend Van Der Merwe. With third place going to a Howick/Umgeni combined team Des Smith, Julia Strachan and Bev Vorster. The Toucher prizes went to Pam Spring (Lead from Maritzburg BC), Chantal DHotman (2nd from Umgeni Waterfall BC) and Hilary Williams (Skip from Umgeni Waterfall BC).
Massive thanks again to The Woodstone Craft Café for the sponsorship of the main prizes as well as the tea time treats. Thanks also to The Treatery for sponsoring the Toucher prizes. Special thanks as well to the bar staff who offer up their time to serve the bowlers.
Our next competition will be the J Leslie Smith & Co sponsored All Day Competition which will be an open trips competition to be held on Thursday 9 August which happens to be Public Holiday as well.
Congrats to Lynn Durant and Alison Toms for winning the clubs Ladies Pairs Trophy this past week. They narrowly beat Bernice Burden and Margie Holl. Well done ladies.
