The past week was eventful for in more ways than we could have imagined. Tuesday morning tabs in started off on the nippy side but ended with lovely warm weather. We were also scheduled to play the much anticipated club versus club competition at the Hilton Bowling Club on Friday morning. This ended in near tragedy when two of our teams in two separate cars were involved in an accident on the freeway near the Hilton off ramp. We are grateful that there were only minor injuries to all involved. As a club we are indebted to the emergency services who attended to those involved.
Competitions
In-between all of these activities we managed to play our Halfway Toyota Howick Sponsored competition on Wednesday afternoon. As usual Halfway Toyota had a vehicle on display for bowlers to have a look at. After a good afternoon’s bowling the team Alison Toms, Rita Aitken, Lyn Ventress and John Spence walked away with the coveted Halfway Toyota Howick sponsored 1st prize. Second Prize was won by the team of Derek Balfour, Eunice Gage, Bruce Coldwells and Bev Vorster. The club would like to thank Margie Wheelwright for being present and for organizing tea time eats.
By the time that this report is published we will have played the J Leslie Smith & Co sponsored 2 4 2 competition. The results of this competition will be reported in next week’s report.

The President and committee would like to remind all members that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the club will be held on Saturday 22 September directly after social bowls and that committee nomination forms are posted on the clubs notice board.
