Working with ToPS Species (Threatened or Protected Species)
Another Serval, the youngest Serval admission of the year, this kitten is estimated at around 3 - 4 weeks old and weighs a tiny 750grams.
Found in quite an unusual predicament, this kitten was lying dead still in the middle of the road in Dargle. After almost hitting the cat, Frans quickly reversed to move her out of the road. Unfortunately, mom was nowhere to be found and it was clearly just too dangerous to leave the kitten in the same spot.
On arrival, we performed a full check-up for any signs of injury or illness. The kitten is in perfect condition and extremely feisty. We can only assume that the mother had been disturbed while she was trying to move the kitten across to a new area.
Due to the age of the kitten and her current dietary requirements, it became too difficult to try and reunite her with her mother once more, especially on such a busy road. She will now stay in care and be hand-reared by our amazing Wildlife Rehabilitators and will be introduced to the two other female kittens in care when she is a bit older.
We love what we do, and how we do it.
