This beautiful Wattled crane family were foraging in the pasture last night that was completely under water on Saturday. Ground is nice and soft and lots of grubs and worms easily available.
The crane in the middle is a juvenile and a product of last years breeding season. You can tell it is a juvenile by its size - smaller than its parents and if you look at its head, you will see the grey patch hasn't developed yet.
This pair has successfully raised many chicks over the years. Our farmers in the area are dedicated crane custodians and contribute hugely to the successful breeding of these beautiful birds.
