June action was rather quiet month on the cameras:
01 June
Merrivale
A Vehicle involved in theft from a shopping centre in Kloof activated a UCSI camera. The vehicle attempted a robbery in Mpophomeni. Security chased them away. Because the original victim had not opened a SAPS case; our reaction was very delayed, and we lost the vehicle.
07 June
Merrivale
UCSI received a report of a possible attempt at hijacking and pointing firearm at victim while driving. After some discussion and investigation we believe this was a false report.
11 June
Crompton to Mpophomeni
A vehicle reported as stolen on 31/05/2022 at PLESSISLAER was actioned and followed to Mpophomeni where Sompisis Security managed to stop and question the driver. With assistance from AET and Mpophomeni SAPS. Vehicle was found to be recovered and cleared to continue.
11 June
Howick
A vehicle was stolen in Howick. The information shared to the response group and vehicle followed on the snipr system through to Crompton rd. Snipr was requested to follow further but unfortunately vehicle was lost. A big factor in losing the vehicle was that the number plate was partially obscured and the cameras could not read correctly.
Please ensure that your number plate is clean and clear of any obstructions, including bumper bars.
14 June
Hilton
A vehicle was stolen from Life hospital parking lot. A Search made for the stolen vehicle as well as the suspect vehicle. Both seen in camera entering Hilton cbd but lost thereafter.
20 June
Hilton to PMB
A vehicle reported as stolen on 17/06/2022 at ISIPINGO was activated and reported to response group. It was confirmed by SAPS to be wanted. A Magma member found vehicle and followed it into PMB. With assistance from AET members the vehicle was stopped, and driver apprehended. Vehicle was impounded.
