Most people are accustomed to making appointments for regular checkups as part of their medical care. Annual physicals, dental checkups and vision tests are all commonplace, but not many pay as much attention to their hearing.
How often you have your hearing tested depends on your age. While a check up every 3-5 years is recommended for those aged between 18 and 40, annual checkups/tests are recommended for:
* people over 60 years of age
* people who are regularly exposed to loud noises
* people with hearing loss
While most hearing loss is caused by ageing, without routine hearing tests, there’s a chance that a hearing problem could go undiagnosed for months or years.
If you’re in need of a hearing screening, comprehensive hearing test or a hearing device, contact Butlin Hearing.
