Thank you to Stuart McLean and Dilys Drennan for rescuing these 'unwanted' chicks, and to the dedicated team at FreeMe Wildlife for doing such a splendid job raising them and settling them into their new home in an owl box on Belinda McLintock's property. Thank you Belinda for being such a good owl host, and for providing us with updates on the young owlets journeys to adulthood.
If you are not familiar with the work we do as part of the project, please take a look at our website. We don't just sell owl boxes! www.freemewildlife.org/shop
We would love to grow a support base for our work, so please consider donating to cover owl rescues and rehoming: www.freemewildlife.org/donate (use Owl as your reference so we know its for us)
Pictured here: Andrew (FreeMe Wildlife) arrived on site to settle the young owls into their new home. The owlets were taken out the transport box one by one and gently settled into the owl box.
Pictured below: Fortunately we had several owl box owners with empty boxes offering to be release sites for these youngsters. Since they were originally from the Underberg area, Belinda McLintock's unoccupied Barn Owl box in Himeville was selected as the right spot to become their new home.
