The annual Ladies Football Invitational League prizegiving ceremony held last night concluded with an extraordinary performance, as Howick High School achieved first place across every single age division: U14, U15, U16, and the 1st Team.
The competitive six-school league featured fierce rivalry between Epworth, St John's Diocesan School, Pietermaritzburg Girls' High School, St Anne's Diocesan School, The Wykeham Collegiate, and Howick High School. Demonstrating unmatched depth and determination throughout the season, the champions secured top honors in all four categories.
"Achieving victory across all four age groups speaks volumes about the incredible work ethic of our players, the dedication of our coaching staff, and the supportive culture within our soccer program" said school spokesperson, Mrs Carmen Nanni. "Competing against schools of this high calibre pushes us to raise our game every week, and seeing the girls' relentless effort rewarded across the board is immensely satisfying."
The collective team success was backed by strong individual achievements across every division:
U14 Division: Tia Cochrane earned Top Goalie, while Mia Nicholls and Ashley Warren shared the award for Top Goal Scorer.
U15 Division: Holly Nagel and Andiswe Nkuna were named Top Goal Keepers, and Aphelele Zondi received the Most Valuable Player award.
U16 Division: Abigail Barton and Kaily Taylor shared Top Goalie honors. Megan Ekstein capped an outstanding season by securing both Top Goal Scorer and Most Valuable Player.
