This spotted eagle owl was brought to us in late August with a fractured leg.
With the help of Dr Margie Roach and Dr Ijanla Hoffman from uMngeni SPCA, the leg was splinted and this pretty girl was put on strict cage rest to help facilitate the healing process.
And, after a couple weeks in the splint, with careful monitoring and regular veterinary check ups, the go-ahead was given to remove the splint.
Another week or two of cage rest to monitor the use of her leg, before hopefully moving out to a bigger enclosure, one step closer to release.
