Amber Valley Care Centre
The Care Centre at Amber Valley provides 24 hour nursing care with medication monitoring, a laundry service, peaceful gardens and TLC. All residents are treated according to their individual needs with the aim of improving their quality of life. Residents enjoy three main meals a day, each having three courses as well as four beverage breaks where a snack or biscuit is provided.
All the rooms are single, with a hand basin and built-in cupboard. The permanent residents furnish their own rooms and their choice of colour scheme is reflected in the colours of their bed linen and curtains. This contributes to the homely atmosphere because every room looks different. There are 5 shower/toilets in each wing. These are large, to facilitate residents having assistance and the toilets are raised for ease of use.
An activity group has been set up and volunteer residents from the Amber Valley Village spend time at the Care Centre, playing card games, scrabble, doing exercises, making crafts or just chatting to the residents. The sound of music is always in the background creating a calm atmosphere.
At the main centre which is attached to the Care Centre there are regular films, travel talks and musical evenings, all of which can be attended by the Care Centre residents who are helped back to the centre for a cup of tea before bedtime.
